TECHNOLOGIES

Malnutrition Matters provides a suite of practical, climate‑friendly food‑processing technologies that enable communities to produce affordable, protein‑rich, nutrient‑dense plant‑based foods and strengthen sustainable food systems. By transforming soybeans and other local crops into high‑value foods, these solutions improve nutrition while creating viable enterprise and institutional opportunities that empower families and enrich entire communities.

SoyaKit

Individuals and households

The SoyaKit is a compact, non-electric “home business in a box” system designed for small-batch production of soymilk, yogurt, porridge, tofu, and related foods. It operates without electricity, uses heat-retention cooking to reduce fuel use, and can produce multiple litres of nutritious food per hour. The SoyaKit supports micro-enterprises, schools, clinics, and community food programs by enabling low-cost, high-impact food production with minimal infrastructure.

SoyCow

Large scale with electricity

The SoyCow is a medium-scale electric food-processing system that efficiently produces soymilk and derivative products like tofu and yogurt. Available in multiple models (including SoyCow M, SoyCow E, and SoyCow 30), it can process tens of litres of soymilk per hour and supports higher-volume production for enterprises, institutional kitchens, or feeding programs. The system combines grinding, pressure cooking, and filtration to maximize output and product consistency.

VitaGoat

Large scale without electricity

The VitaGoat is a versatile, non-electric food-processing system suited for environments without reliable electricity. It uses steam-injected pressure cooking and manual grinding to convert soybeans and other foods into soymilk, tofu, nut butters, and more. Its design is energy-efficient and appropriate for micro-enterprise initiatives, social feeding programs, and community food production efforts.

SolarFlex Dryers

SolarFlex dryers use passive solar energy to dry fruits, vegetables, herbs, and other crops without electricity or chemical preservatives, extending the shelf life of seasonal foods and enhancing food security. With design features like horizontal airflow and adjustable solar collectors, these dryers make long-term storage of nutritious foods affordable and accessible in sun-rich environments.

Heat Pump Dryers

Besides our own technology, we also collaborate with other mission aligned third party organisations. One such is the Heat Pump dryers. These hybrid systems combine efficient heat pump technology with solar-assisted air heating to dry larger quantities of food — up to hundreds of kilograms per day. They offer a scalable drying solution for commercial producers, processing facilities, or larger community operations, complementing the SolarFlex range for year-round use.

How These Technologies Work Together

Together, these tools support the full spectrum of plant-based food production — from individual or small-business food makers to larger institutional and enterprise models. By enabling the efficient production, preservation, and distribution of nutritious, foods at multiple scales, Malnutrition Matters’ technologies help strengthen food systems, improve economic opportunity, and expand access to affordable, protein-rich diets.
